FAQ

These questions are here to help you understand our approach and expectations, and whether this is the right fit for you.

Q1. Is this a tour or concierge service, and what is your support focused on?

A.
This service is intentionally different from traditional tours or concierge services. Rather than managing logistics or providing predefined experiences, we focus on helping you think clearly about how you want to experience Japan. Our role is to offer perspective, context, and guidance so your choices feel informed and considered.

Our support centers on judgment and decision-making. We help you understand options, recognize context, and weigh trade-offs that shape the experience. The focus is not on giving answers, but on clarifying what matters so you can decide with confidence. The more you decide with context, the more Japan becomes tangible. Communication is available in English and Japanese only.

Q2. What do you handle directly, and what do I handle myself?

A.
We provide guidance, comparisons, and decision support across the trip, including hotels, flights, and rail. We can research options, explain trade-offs, and walk you through how bookings are typically made in Japan. All bookings and payments for hotels, flights, and rail are completed directly by you.

Where appropriate and permitted, we may also assist directly with select reservations, such as restaurants or experiences, when it supports the overall flow of the journey. Our role is to provide clarity at decision points, not to take ownership of the trip.

Q3. Do you provide support during the trip?

A.
Yes. Support is available during your stay within defined service hours and within an agreed scope. It is intended for moments when clear input is most useful, such as adjusting plans, thinking through unexpected situations, or confirming next steps.

This can also include questions that arise in the moment about Japanese customs, culture, history, or context. Our role is to help you understand what you are seeing, so your choices stay thoughtful and grounded.

Q4. Who is this service best suited for?

A.
This service tends to resonate with travelers who value clarity, involvement, and thoughtful consideration. It works best for those who want to understand why something feels right, not just what to do or where to go. If you prefer to be engaged in decisions rather than having everything decided for you, this approach is likely to align well.

Q5. Is there a minimum engagement, and how far in advance should I reach out?

A.
Engagements begin at three days. To support meaningful decisions, we also recommend reaching out at least 14 days before your trip begins. This allows time to clarify direction, compare options, and make decisions without rushing.

If your trip is closer than that, you may still submit an inquiry. In that case, scope may be limited, and we may decline if meaningful support is not realistic.

Q6. How does pricing work?

A.
Pricing reflects the scope and depth of engagement rather than a fixed menu of services. Each journey is different, and pricing is determined based on duration, complexity, and the level of support involved. An estimate is shared after we understand your needs and confirm alignment.

Q7. What happens after I submit an inquiry, and what if it is not the right fit?

A.
Each inquiry is reviewed carefully before moving forward. If the service appears to be a good fit, we will invite you to the next step, which may include a short questionnaire or a conversation to clarify direction.

If alignment is not present, we believe clarity is more valuable than proceeding by default. If we do not believe the engagement is the right fit, we will tell you directly and thoughtfully. Being selective is part of responsible guidance.

Q8. Do I need to be a serious “food traveler” to work with you?

A.
No. You do not need to chase famous names or build your trip around dining. Curiosity and attention are enough.

If food is part of what you care about, we help you evaluate choices in a way that fits your trip. Not only taste, but genre, atmosphere, presentation, and the timing that makes a place feel right in that moment. The aim is not to collect reservations. It is to clarify what fits, and why, so you can choose with confidence.
